About Us

The Private GP Service at The Princess Margaret Hospital was established in 1998 and offers high quality, consistent private medical care for patients based in Windsor, Maidenhead and Ascot.

The Private GP service is run by Dr Usha Sharma and Dr Jeremy Wheeler.

Both Dr Usha Sharma and Dr Jeremy Wheeler pride themselves on being family doctors, who have the time to listen to and understand your needs. Their services include paediatric, menopause and women’s health, health screening and preventative medicine, vaccinations and e consultations.

The practice is based within a modern, fully equipped hospital, allowing quick access to specialised technology such as blood tests, x-rays, scans and ultrasounds.

Test results are fast and can usually be delivered within 48 hours. If needed, both Dr’s can make onward referrals to consultants and specialists both within the hospital and elsewhere. Prescriptions can either be collected from the onsite pharmacy or at an offsite one of your choosing.

We take both insurance and self paying customers and are happy to keep your existing NHS GP informed throughout your treatment.

Meet the Team

Dr Sharma has been a General Practitioner since 1990. She graduated from Kings College Hospital, London in 1984 and became a full time GP in 1990.  For the first eight years of her GP career, Dr Sharma worked solely in the NHS, before starting her own private practice within The Princes Margaret Hospital in Windsor in 1998. Dr Sharma was the first to take Private General Practice into a Hospital and continued to work in both the NHS and privately until 2012.

With a patient-led outlook and the desire to prioritise patients’ well-being and ease of treatment, Dr Sharma decided to go exclusively private in 2012. Private practice is the ideal setting for Dr Sharma to pursue her passion of treating patients holistically. Consultations are available five days a week at the Princess Margaret Hospital, providing a comprehensive health service for families and individuals.

Dr Wheeler trained at Charing Cross Hospital, University of London. After his GP training, Dr Wheeler joined the Symons Medical Centre, Maidenhead, where he worked for 30 years as a full time practitioner, 18 years as Senior Partner.

Dr Wheeler also has 19 years as a Hospital Practitioner in Paediatrics, two years as Clinical Assistant in Rheumatology and he has also been an examiner for the Diploma of Child Health.  After being a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners for 30 years, Dr Wheeler has recently been elected to become a Fellow of the College.
